The Train Wreck Endings

American Vertigo

Andy Hawk & The Train Wreck Endings
Andy Hawk

New Year’s Eve, Times Square

Naïve, 19, out of nowhere

oh, no, how was I to know?

I’d get American vertigo

the Rubber Man and Rock raised a bottle and said,

“You swear at the Rubber Man, and you’ll be dead!

We havin’ a party in Brooklyn tonight

Come on over, don’t be impolite…”

Oh, no, I don’t want to go

‘cause I got American Vertigo

I walked in the party, naïve and 19

Crawled to the subway stinkin’ smoke and gasoline

called up the bossman and played my kazoo

said, “I ain’t coming back, I got a good job to lose…”

Oh no, nothing like skid row

when you got American Vertigo

Midnight exploded, rainin’ broken glass

The Rock & the Rubber Man slipped to the past

Me, I’m still crawling / that way and this

You see, I ain’t what I used to be, but who the hell is?

Oh no, you don’t want to know

how I got American Vertigo
