The Train Wreck Endings

Stories That We Tell (Live at the Bitter End)

The Train Wreck Endings
Andy Hawk

I woke up drunk and early

in the Chalk-Outline Motel

She brought me beer and flowers

I guessed her name was Isabel

I asked her, "Am I still in New York City?"

She asked me when I joined the NFL

I said I had a game that day in Cleveland

Oh, the stories that we tell

She said I looked to young to be a Beatle

I thanked her for the compliment

I told her Rubber Soul was mostly my songs

She never asked for any evidence (beep, beep, beep, beep)

"Don't you have to get yourself to Cleveland?"

She shook me back awake by my lapel

See, it's hard to get a plane from Nova Scotia

with the stories that we tell
